Blue Devil Scramble: A Golf Outing to Benefit Joe’s Place.  Check out the web site below!

SEPTEMBER 1, 2011 IS DEADLINE for SIGN UP

Date: Friday morning, September 23  Check in 8:00 AM

Location: The newly renovated Highlands Golf Course in Forest Park, formerly Triple A

Cost: $40 per player. This fee includes cart, greens fees, range balls, prizes, and a modest contribution to Joe’s Place.

Format: This is a nine-hole team scramble.  Players will be organized in four man teams with members of their graduating class.  A group of four golfers from a given class or classes may choose to organize their own four man scramble team.  To do this, one player, the team captain, must send us their four names, graduating class, and checks to cover their four person golf team expense ($160.oo). The Blue Devil Scramble is limited to the first seventy two players who sign up.

Event Start: 8:00 am meet other players at The Highlands in Forest Park. The putting green and driving range will be open.  Range balls will be provided along with announcements and rules of play for the day.  Alums not playing are welcome to watch.

Tee Time: 9:00 am, Shot Gun Start!

Awards Ceremony:  Don’t expect too much here.  But we will have prizes for winning teams, longest drive, and others to be determined.

Golf Hole Sponsors and Class Challenge: We are selling holes to Maplewood and Richmond Heights merchants for $300.  Our goal is a $3000.oo contribution to Joe’s Place.  This tax deductable contribution will go entirely to Joe’s Place with no administrative fees or golf event costs being deducted.  We also challenge individual alums and each of the graduating classes to compete by contributing to Joe’s Place.  Simply add a few more dollars when you send in your check.  It is not necessary to play golf to step up to this challenge.  Reunion recreation is our purpose but the Blue Devil Scramble is also a Class Challenge and fund raiser for Joe’s Place.  The winning class will be honored at the Saturday night reunion banquet.  The Great class of 1967 is already leading the way with a sponsorship of one golf hole.

Other:  More details on this MRH 60’s Reunion Blue Devil Scramble will be posted as the reunion weekend approaches.  Spread the word and organize your class team!

Joe's Place http://joesplacestl.org/   is an innovative idea born from a dramatic need in our community. Each year close to a dozen MRH high school students find themselves virtually without a home due to serious family difficulties. These students sleep and eat wherever friends will let them settle for a while.

As the MRH School District struggles to find a safe haven for these youngsters, we find again and again that teens between the ages of 16 and 18 have few support nets in our social welfare system.

Joe's Place offers a small group of teenage boys what every kid should be able to expect from life: a warm place to sleep, regular meals, and someone to provide guidance and affection
